Glasgow City Council Education Services are looking for suitably experienced and qualified persons to the join our Associate Staff list. - These posts are non-residential and subject to Enhanced Disclosure Scotland checks, through the PVG scheme.

 

Blairvadach is one of the largest Local Authority owned Residential Outdoor Education Centres in Scotland, run by Glasgow City Councils’ Education Services. The Centre is located on the east shore of the Gare Loch adjacent to Scotland’s first National Park. It has undergone significant investment by the Council as part of a major upgrade and refurbishment programme.

 

The main emphasis of the Centres’ work is in providing term time residential outdoor education courses for Glasgow City Primary and Secondary Schools. A variety of other educational activity courses and programmes are offered throughout the year to a wide range of clients, including NGB awards as well as ‘tailored’ programmes.

 

As an Associate Instructor at Blairvadach, you will be part of a team of staff delivering a wide range of programmes and activities, both water and land based, to a variety of clients and groups in both residential and non residential contexts; taking responsibility for the pastoral care of clients in line with the Centre, Education Services and Council policies and guidelines.

 

You will possess the ability to work flexibly, with good organisational skills, the ability to lead, manage and relate well to groups of people of all ages and from all backgrounds; a responsible attitude and awareness of health and safety; a high level of competence in the activities you will be leading; a broad working knowledge of outdoor and environmental subjects and issues.

 

Applicants should poses a Full UK Driving Licence preferably with D1 entitlement, a valid current first aid certificate, a broad range of National Governing Body Awards at Level 2 or above.

A relevant academic background is desirable.
